4. From our years of experience, precision, passion and pride, being handbuilt the wheels are built to tighter tolerances, are stiffer, stronger and will perform at a higher level for much longer than most wheels that are factory built.

About our wheel builder

Neil Hobbs Known as Obbsie, has been in the cycle industry in Oxford and the surrounding area since leaving school, and has raced regularly in both cyclocross and time trials. He started his wheel-building journey back in 1990 building mainly 26x 1 3/8 steel wheels on Sturmey archer hubs for a fleet of 250 hire bikes. He moved on to high-end performance wheels, and on becoming a Campagnolo main dealer he mainly used Campagnolo hubs on Mavic or Assos rims.

He still has the first set of time trial wheels he built for himself in 1992 and they are still running true as good as the day he built them. Mid 90's MTB customers wanted snowflake wheels, so he built a fair few of those too, "good fun trying new things" he says. He passed ATG advanced wheel building Level 3 in 2005 and has built wheels for bikes that have gone around the world fully laden, racing tandems, downhill MTBs, top-level road and time trial bikes, track bikes, and retro classics. He loves nothing more than to be sat at the truing stand building a set of wheels.
